ASSISTANT TOWN CLERK

This role will be for approximately 20 hours per week (days/times to be agreed) and is required to undertake day-to-day management of the Town Council’s services and functions, including managing the Parish Allotments and Cemetery, clerking committee meetings and actioning all financial processes.  

The post requires candidates to have an excellent track record in administration and/or accounting and possess exceptional Customer Care skills.  

Experience of work in public sector or local councils is desirable, as is experience of budget monitoring and of using accounts software, but this is not essential as full training will be provided.  

The post will contain some evening and weekend work, but advance notice will be provided.  

The role is varied and is key to the Council functioning efficiently and is extremely rewarding, supporting all areas of the community within the parish.

There is potential for up to an additional 17 hours per week on a temporary basis to cover additional administrative duties if the applicant desires.  

The successful candidate will be responsible to the Town Clerk .

Salary: SCP 14 – 18 (£23,080 – £24,982 per annum FTE) Salary displayed is full time equivalent and will be pro-rata in accordance with hours.

The successful candidate will be based within the newly developed Riverside Community Centre, Station Road, Bovey Tracey.  The vibrant shared space hosts the Town’s Library, Information Centre and Public Toilets as well as the Council  offices  with natural light and modern technology.
