An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Estates Caretaker to join Kingdom Services Group Ltd working at the Tonbridge College Campus, TN9 area. Shift pattern: On Average 37 Hours per Week. (some cover outside of these hours will be required to cover staff holidays etc - includes an hour for lunch) Pay rate £10.00 per hour. Person specification: To be considered for this position, you will need: Caretaking Duties To conduct basic maintenance, DIY requests e.g. changing light bulbs, unblocking toilets as required. Undertake the moving of furniture and equipment as required by the College. To work shifts which could be late or early as required by the College and will be required to cover the shifts of other caretaking staff when they are absent. To be available on a rota basis for off duty call outs in emergencies. Responsible for the care and security of College buildings and grounds and their contents, which will include the monitoring or interception of visitors, or immediate reporting of unauthorised persons. To report immediately, to the Estates Manager, any defects in the buildings, services, contents and surrounds. Responsible for maintenance of the site and buildings in a clean and tidy condition, including some cleaning duties & litter picking as required. To ensure internal/external recycling & litter bins are emptied and waste transported to the relevant bin ready for collection by contractor. Responsibility for the routine locking and unlocking of doors when on cover. To contribute to the development, improvement and effectiveness of security routines and procedures. To prevent frost damage by attending to heating plants during College hours and at other times as may be necessary when the College is closed. Fire prevention and any firefighting duties as may be assigned. To this end the post holder must be conversant with the current fire precautions regulations. To manage the receipt of and to ensure internal distribution of goods and material deliveries, including mail. To maintain stocks of materials as necessary such as toilet rolls, hand towels etc. Meet College IT standards specific for role but training will be given. To undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by management. Essential To be trained in the systems and procedures and to be fully familiar with the West Kent College site at Brook Streetwhich is their place of duty 6 months experience of face to face customer focused work In possession of a current Fire Warden / Fire Marshall certificate or willing to commence training towards this within six months of employment Good DIY skills Experience in basic maintenance Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations Own transport required / Full UK driving license Desirable Experience of maintaining systems and administrative procedures Experience of dealing with access control Aptitudes and Abilities Essential Good English oral communication skills Good written skills, sufficient to accurately record and report incidents Good computer skills - Training will be given The ability to be both estates and customer service conscious at all times Desirable Knowledge of general security systems (including CCTV, Intruder alarms, Fire alarm systems etc) Examples of our fantastic colleague welfare includes: -
