Job description DIVISION Finance Operations and Digital Directorate provide a range of services in support of GLD. The teams within our Directorate are wide-ranging and include all aspects of Finance (planning, procurement and financial management), ICT and Operations (Security, business resilience, health & safety, records management & facilities management, future accommodation and data protection). Whilst the work we do is varied we share a common aim, to provide the support necessary to enable GLD to be the best in the business. In the Finance Operations and Digital Directorate we get things done and will always aim to provide a professional and efficient service. Responsibilities The new post will have responsibility for programme management of the delivery of GLD's location neutral, hybrid working approach as set out in our Accommodation and Location Strategy. The Strategy aims to capitalise on the opportunities presented by initiatives such as Places for Growth which will enable us to relocate posts to a small number of hubs outside London including Leeds and Bristol by:
• Creating offices for collaboration and team work, workspaces designed for collaborating, socialising, wellbeing and learning and development.
• Bringing all staff together in a limited number of substantial GLD bases across the country, which accommodate and support the full range of expert services (including advisory and corporate services).
• Maximising the opportunities for career development and progression in all locations, by enabling the majority of GLD posts to be located in any GLD office location irrespective of where other team members have their office location or where clients are based.
• Supporting managers to lead dispensed teams whilst maintaining and inclusive culture.
• Continuing to prioritise the value of our client facing legal teams and our strong partnerships with clients, even as client teams are inevitably more dispersed across the country, learning from our successes of virtual working during the pandemic and seeking creative opportunities to maintain these relationships.
• Continuing to focus on being the best employer for all our staff providing continued opportunities for everyone in GLD to engage in these important decisions, enhancing and strengthening diversity and inclusion as we go forward with our future ways of working.
• Recommendations will be overseen by the appropriate Committee, e.g. People Committee or Operations Committee. The post holder will coordinate the teams delivering the strategy ensuring that the programme of work progresses to schedule, helping to build and enhance relationships with stakeholders across all areas of GLDs business. This is an exciting and challenging role within the centre of GLD, and is wide reaching. Responsibilities of the role include:
• Creating a Programme Plan that pulls together existing strands of work into one place.
• Driving forward the delivery of the programme via Stakeholder management and virtual team co-ordination.
• Collaborating across GLD and beyond, acting as a point of contact for Cabinet Office/Places for Growth reporting, the Business Management community for the Senior Leadership Group including the Permanent Secretary and Director Generals. The role is in the team, which is led by Director Nick Price. This role is an opportunity to gain experience of programme implementation. This is an outline job description of the key responsibilities and accountabilities involved in the job.
