Role: Accounts Assistant

Full time – 35 hours

Reports to: Management Accountant

We are looking for an Accounts Assistant to join our finance team in Newton Abbot on a fixed term contract until March 2024. There is a strong possibility that the contract may be extended and applicants should be available to start immediately. You will be joining Tindle Newspapers Limited at one of the most exciting times in its history, as we embrace the transformation into a truly multimedia news organisation.

The Tindle Group is the largest privately owned weekly regional print operator in England. We also own 4 radio stations in the Channel Islands and Ireland. The company has been in existence since the Second World War, but some of the titles that have joined this family business in more recent years are more than 100-years-old. We are a business that focuses on our local markets, ensuring the content and work is truly focused on the communities it serves.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Setting up new customers and checking they meet credit criteria
  • Invoicing
  • Reconciling the bank account daily
  • Processing sagepay terminal transactions
  • Dealing with queries in the general accounts inbox
  • Credit control
  • Adhoc analysis tasks
  • Assist management accountants with tasks as required
  • Liaising with other departments and offices to solve problems
  • Answering the phone for finance queries
  • Provide support and cover where needed

Requirements

  • Relevant Accounting Experience
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Attention to detail
