Job hunting is challenging.  New Job Today offers thousands of jobs to apply for.  When you find the job(s) that suit your requirements, here's our guide on how to stand out to future employers.

  • Tailor your application to the job and the company. This means taking the time to read the job description carefully and highlight the skills and experience that are most relevant to the role. You should also research the company and its culture so that you can demonstrate that you would be a good fit.

  • Keep it concise and easy to read. Employers are busy people, so they don't have time to read through long, rambling applications. Get to the point quickly and make sure your application is easy to read and is relevant.

  • Use keywords from the job description. This will help your application get noticed by applicant tracking systems (ATS). ATS are used by many employers to screen applications, and they will often only shortlist applications that contain the right keywords.

  • Use the STAR technique. The STAR technique is a great way to structure your application and demonstrate your skills and experience. It stands for:
Situation: Describe the situation or task you were faced with.
Task: What was your specific task or responsibility?
    Action: What did you do?
Result: What was the outcome of your actions?
  • Proofread carefully. Typos and grammatical errors will make you look unprofessional, so make sure to proofread your application carefully before submitting it. It is definitely worth getting a friend or relative to proofread your application.

  • Following Up. If the job is something that you are really keen on, it is definitely worth following up with the employer if you haven't heard from them after submitting your application.
We hope that these suggestions help you stand out in your job application.
